Scotch Grain Burnished Indigo Hancock Plate Belt

Creating a belt design that is classy and elegant yet at the same time has its own distinctive character is always an interesting challenge. There is a delicate balance to be struck between detail that enhances and detail that distracts. So back in 2016 when we came up with our 'Hancock' style, named after ground-breaking jazz artist Herbie Hancock, we were inspired to keep things minimal with just a hint of contemporary style to show that sense of individuality. This new version of Hancock takes all of the great elements of its predecessor but evolves with the scotch grain texture of the leather. This leather adds a weight and solidity to the belt with a hint more 'sportiness' . It is still hand burnished to reveal a rich depth of tone and colour and then under the surface there are the sleek S shaped ridges which we are highlighted with their own stitch detail. These ridges repeat along the strap every 25cms and once the belt is hand polished show a little extra tonal contrast to subtly add extra life to the belt. This incarnation in a lovely Indigo Blue tone has lovely depth of tone with deep blues and hints of black punctuated with bursts of vibrant lighter blue. We decided to pair this up with a buckle that would give the belt a sleek smart look - the smooth satin silver surface of this open face plate buckle is a nice contrast to the heavier texture of the leather, its design neatly framing the leather that sits below. The buckle has a nice weight and solidity to it that combines with the weight of the scotch grain leather to give a sleek looking belt that can be used for both smarter and more smart casual occasions. Great for smart trousers or smart denim. Wear this belt style and people will know you are willing to experiment with the smallest of details to create your own individuality - like the jazz maestro the belt is named after!
