How to Use Methylene Blue for Best Results

  1. Prepare Your Slide: Create a wet mount slide with your specimen.
  2. Apply the Stain: Add 1 drop of Methylene Blue to one outer edge of the cover slip.
  3. Draw the Stain Under the Cover Slip:
    • Place a small piece of paper towel on the opposite edge of the cover slip.
    • The paper towel will draw the stain across the specimen using capillary action.
  4. Wait and Verify: Allow the stain to fully cover the specimen.
    • If necessary, add another drop of stain to ensure complete coverage.
  5. Observe Under the Microscope: Place the slide on the microscope stage.
    • The cell nuclei will appear as the darkest blue areas under the microscope.
